Hosted by Erin Andrews and Tom Bergeron, "Dancing With the Stars" Season 23 is set to air on ABC on Sept. 12, Monday. NFL star Calvin Johnson is one of the 13 celebrity contestants who will compete for the mirror ball trophy.
Johnson will be paired with Lindsay Arnold. The latter strongly believes that she and her partner will win "DWTS" Season 23.
"I think this could be my season, I really do," Arnold told Entertainment Tonight. "I think Calvin is going to surprise a lot of people with what he has to offer, and I'm excited to know that it can only get better from here."
Arnold said she is ready to push Johnson every week and take America along the journey of her partner. She described the NFL star as the Detroit Lions football player-turned-dancer.
In "DWTS" Season 22, Arnold also thought she and her partner Boyz II Men singer Wanya Morris would make it to the finals. However, they only finished in fourth place.
In "DWTS" Season 23, Arnold admitted that Johnson is not going to come out as the best dancer during the first week. However, she is confident that viewers will see the NFL star's improvement, which for her is more important than being the best dancer.
To win the mirror ball trophy, Johnson has to beat Ryan Lochte, Vanilla Ice, James Hinchcliffe, Jake T. Austin, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Rick Perry, Amber Rose, Jana Kramer, Laurie Hernandez, Marilu Henner, Maureen McCormick and Terra Jolé. Their respective partners are Cheryl Burke, Witney Carson, Sharna Burgess, Jenna Johnson, Allison Holker, Emma Slater, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Gleb Savchenko, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough, Atem Chigvintsev and Sasha Farbe.
Before joining the cast of "DWTS" Season 23, Lochte made headlines because of the Rio robbery scandal. The 12-time Olympic medalist was suspended for 10 months for the gas station incident during the Rio Olympics, a source told USA Today.
