Kim Woo Bin & Bae Suzy not Keen on Returning for ‘Uncontrollably Fond’ Season 2

Because the final episode of “Uncontrollably Fond” hinted of a possible death for the character of Shin Joon Young, played by Kim Woo Bin, new stars would be needed for the second season.

FXNewscall reported that contract negotiations are ongoing between KBS2 and new stars. However, the low rating had KBS2 also reconsider plans for a second season. The series ended with the show’s unimpressive rating.

Since it was also a debacle for the lead stars, Kim Woo Bin and Bae Suzy are also said to be not keen on returning to the show if ever there would be a season 2. Although both Hallyu stars are popular individually, they did not have chemistry, causing the drop in the show’s ratings, with Bae Suzy even receiving blame for her alleged poor acting skills.

The drama premiered in June and enjoyed high ratings for the first few episodes. However, during the last 10 episodes, “Uncontrollably Fond” had gone out of control and dropped off the top 10 highest rate shows in South Korea.

Both TNmS and AGB showed that by episode 7, aired on July 27, ratings dropped to one-digit, recovering only to 10.6 percent for AGB Seoul on episode 12, aired on Aug. 11. Episode 20, the finale, aired on Sept. 8 and the show had a 7.4 percent rating by TNmS and 8.4 percent for AGB nationwide, finishing 20th and 15th place. The highest ranking “Uncontrollably Fond” got was 3rd in Seoul for TNmS for episode 1.
