Billionaire Masayoshi Son, chairman and chief executive officer of SoftBank Corp., speaks in front of mobile game images of Clash of Clans and Boom Beach by gamemaker Supercell Oy during a news conference in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014.

"Clash of Clans" August update saw several game balance changes among them the reduction in miner movement speed, damage increase for level 11-14, healers triggering air traps and deploying more of the army before activation of eagle artillery. While the update has been received well by gamers, the much awaited friendly Clan Challenge will bring back the excitement levels to all clashers!

In a recent post by Supercell, the match type appears to mix Friendly Challenges and Clan Wars. The team behind "Clash of Clans" will unveil a major update this September, with speculations about Clan Challenges being a part of this update doing rounds in the forums.

Supercell revealed that it is working on a new spec called the Clan Challenge (read Arranged Wars). With the new Clan Challenge, clans will be able to issue a friendly request to another Clan daring to accept the challenge. In addition, the feature will let players choose war participants, send their Clan Challenge request and set the duration of preparation/battle days. The preparation day starts when the opposing clan accepts the request.

According to War Clans, Clash of Clans presently has only Clan Wars, the opposing clan is chosen automatically, based on several condition. Once the match is made, gamers have 23hrs to get ready. The preparation mostly entails filling the War Clan Castle with the army that a player thinks will best defend against troop attacks. Once the preparation day is over, the battle commence and the winning clan gets gold, dark elixir and elixir loot.

The Clan Wars will continue to exist even in the new feature update. The new Clan Challenge feature is not meant to replace Clan Wars. This also means that players cannot issue a Clan Challenge when there is an ongoing Clan War.

The Clan Challenge feature will provide better support for meet-ups and events organized by players, such as online and offline community initiatives. The difference between the Clan Challenge and Clan Wars is the flexibility to select war army and be able to set the time of preparation.

In the new Clan Challenge, player may propose their own duration of time if their think 23hrs is too long a duration for filling war clan castles. Players can also set the duration of battle days. Of course, the opposing clan to whom a player request must accept the conditions proposed by the other clan.

However, as mentioned, for the players already participating in an ongoing Clan War, they cannot issue a friendly Clan Challenge request.

The features of Clan Challenge are yet to be announced, though speculations are high and the clashers are already having a great time thinking the various changes that the new feature will bring in!

The new update is expected to bring in excitement levels that were seen when the friendly challenge update was launched. Many clashers have used friendly challenges to fine-tune their attacking strategy and practice attacks before taking on opponents in war.

It remains to be seen how clans across the globe will use the new Clan Challenge feature to improve their attacking and defense strategies.

With New Game Mode and several updates for Town halls 1 to 10, the Sept. 18-20 update is likely to be a major update. But the Clan Challenge update is still in the works, so it may not be part of the September update.

If rumors are to be believed, the Clan Challenge is likely to be part of the October-November update as from tradition, Supercell usually releases the biggest updates during October-November time frame.

Clan Challenge update arrives shortly after the debut of a balance patch in late August. Prior to that release, it was said that the "Clash Of Clans" team was hard at work on the next major revision and Clan Challenges could be a part of that plan.

Currently, "Clash Of Clans" is available now on iOS and Android.
