Writer/creator Kurt Sutter speaks onstage during 'The Bastard Executioner' panel discussion at the FX portion of the 2015 Summer TCA Tour at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on August 7, 2015 in Beverly Hills, California.

The prequel of the popular TV series ''Sons of Anarchy'' is in the making and as per the latest updates, the name of the season will be ''Mayans MC.''

The creator Kurt Sutter has finalised on the script writer of this project, confirmed Deadline. Elgin James is working on the script of this prequel which will be set in the 1960s. James is a former member of Friends Stand United (FSU), a Boston, Massachusetts area group which is classified as a gang by many law enforcement agencies. It is possible that Sutter chose him due to this qualification as ''Sons of Anarchy'' is an American crime drama television series.

The first seven season showed the protagonist Jackson "Jax" Teller, Charlie Hunnam creating a bike-gang and naming it as SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original). Hunnam was playing the role of the President of SAMCRO. This gang operated out of the western United States and dealt with social evils like vigilantism, government corruption, and racism. According to Comic Book, this gang had all the ingredients to survive in the roughest of situations.

Sutter had revealed way back in 2014 that he will create the prequel based on the story of Jackson "Jax" Teller's father John Teller. The prequel which is now named as ''Mayans MC'' was initially named as the "First 9.'' It will concentrate on the initial members of the club and the story is set in 1960s in the backdrop of the Vietnam War. This mini-series will have 10 episodes or two seasons comprising of 8 episodes each.

The writer James possesses an intense personality and in the beginning of his life he used to sing for a hard-core punk band ''Wrecking Crew.'' He befriended many youngsters from different socio-economic and racial origins and started a war against neo-nazis, drug dealers, white skinned powerful people and many other anti-socials. As a part of the group FSU, they used to rob the drug dealers and distribute that money to charities.

He later experimented with country-influenced solo work and in December 2008 was announced as a fellow for the Sundance Screenwriters lab. This lab is a part of the Sundance Film Festival which is a program of the Sundance Institute. Before claiming popularity, he was a part of films like ''Release'' which was released in 1998, ''Live Thee Fourth'' which was released in 2000, ''Boston Beatdown Vol. 2'' which was released in 2004, ''Dark Planet: Visions of America'' which was released in 2005, ''Enemy'' which was released in 2007 and ''Goodnight Moon'' which was released in 2007. He was either a part of the writing team or took to directing in some of them.

His movie ''Little Birds'' which was released on January 20, 2011 is based on the experiences of his own life. This movie was first premiered at the Sundance film festival in 2011 and received mixed responses from the critics and audience. James not only directed the film, he also worked on the soundtracks of the movie. The tracks "Tinted Soft Green," "I Will Die Young," "Boy's Theme" and "Alison's Theme (feat. Leslie Stevens)" were created by him and ''The Suicide Gang.''

James worked on another project as a writer. The film ''Lowriders'' is an American drama film and was released on June 1 in the Los Angeles Film Festival). It will be released for mass viewing on May 12, 2017 in the United States.

Since James has a good amount of experience in writing the scripts which involves the lives of people who are on the other side of the law, the fans can expect the script of ''Mayans MC'' to be action-packed.
