WWE Rumors: Randy Orton getting a huge push, another WWE World Title run

| Sep 26, 2016 07:54 AM EDT

Randy Orton enters the ring at the WWE SummerSlam 2015 at Barclays Center of Brooklyn on August 23, 2015 in New York City.

Randy Orton is currently in a feud with Bray Wyatt heading into WWE No Mercy but Vince McMahon is reportedly high on The Viper. According to the latest rumors, McMahon will give Orton a huge push and a possible run at the WWE World Championship currently held by A.J. Styles.

The 36-year-old superstar returned from a shoulder injury at WWE SummerSlam wherein he faced Brock Lesnar in the main event. He ended up losing via technical knockout when Lesnar busted him up the hard way using his elbow.

The referee and doctor at ringside deemed him unfit enough to continue with a big cut on his forehead. He was losing a good amount of blood and the cut would need ten stitches to close while also leaving him with a concussion.

According to Daily Wrestling News, the WWE chairman is high on Orton at the moment due to his performance at SummerSlam. McMahon is reportedly happy with how the match with Lesnar ended and how Orton took a beating like a true professional.

The boss also appreciated the fact that he did not hear Orton complain about how Lesnar busted and hit him with stiff shots to the head. The report noted that word backstage is that The Viper might end up getting another run at the WWE World Championship.

However, the SmackDown Live main event scene is very crowded at the moment with Styles as champion. He will defend the WWE World Title at No Mercy this coming October 9 against Dean Ambrose and John Cena in a Triple Threat Match.

The news of McMahon being happy with Orton does not bold well for Wyatt, who has endured a lot of bad bookings in the last year. The patriarch of The Wyatt Family recently lost to Kane and he has not won a pay-per-view match in a very long time.

Nevertheless, if the rumors about a McMahon being high on Orton are true, he will likely go over Wyatt at No Mercy. According to The Inquisitr, the WWE can make The Viper a prominent player in the main event picture with Cena going on hiatus starting on October 11.

It should be noted that these are just rumors and nothing has been confirmed. Check out the video below for the rematch between Orton and Lesnar at a live event in Chicago on September 24.
