World-renowned fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld gave his two cents on the recent robbery incident involving Kim Kardashian.

World-renowned fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld shared his thoughts on the recent robbery incident involving Kim Kardashian. According to the German designer, he was not surprised this happened to Kardashian as she prominently displays her wealth on the internet.

In a video interview with The Telegraph, Lagerfeld said, "I don't understand why she was in a hotel with no security. If you're that famous and you put all your jewelry on the internet then you go to a hotel where nobody can come near to the room. You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you."

According to the London-based news website, these comments from the Chanel-based creative director came weeks after Kardashian expressed her admiration for Lagerfeld and it was a "dream come true" when he gifted her two Chanel bags. However, Lagerfeld also posted a message on Instagram to show his support for Kardashian, E! Online reported.

The Instagram snap, which was posted a day before the Chanel show, showed him with a handwritten note saying, "Dearest Kim, We are all with you. Love, Karl."

In addition, Lagerfeld shared to reporters his thoughts on the effects of the latest incident to Paris. As a resident of Paris himself, the Chanel-based creative director thought that "image-wise", this will have an impact on the French capital since the country experienced terrorist attacks in November and July.

Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris apartment early morning last Monday. She was alone when robbers dressed as policemen they broke into her room and stole US$10 million worth of jewelry including her engagement ring worth US$4 million, PEOPLE reported.

Simoune Harouche, her friend and stylist, was also in the apartment when the incident happened. After hearing the commotion, she locked herself in the bathroom and called the reality star's bodyguard Pascal Duvier, who had been with sisters Kendall and Kourtney in a Parisian club.

Security and police came immediately. Kardashian immediately left Paris right after giving her statements.

A source told PEOPLE, Kardashian will be "cancelling her appearances that could be a security concern" and "she will continue filming" her show "Keeping Up with the Kardashians".
