With only a robe on when intruders entered her 2-storey Paris apartment, reality star Kim Kardashian thought the masked man and his companion who wore a police hat were going to rape her.
When she saw them through the glass door, Kim knew there was something wrong so she rolled off the bed and attempted to call on her cellphone her bodyguard. However, before she could finish, one of the men grabbed the mobile phone out of her hands, reported TMZ.
The intruders used plastic handcuffs to zip tie her hands and duct tape to make the binding more secure. It was when one of the men grabbed her ankle that the mother of two feared sexual assault. But it turned out, he held her ankle to duct tape it.
After duct taping her ankles, the robbers carried her to the bathroom and placed her in the bathtub. Kim recalled she started to scream and beg the intruders not to kill her since she has two young children. The reality star told them she has money and they could take it.
The French-speaking robbers indicated they wanted her diamond ring which was given to Kim by husband Kanye West. She told them its location and continued to beg and cry, so the men also duct taped her mouth.
While this was ongoing, Simone, a friend of Kim who was sleeping in a bedroom downstairs, heard the noise and locked herself in the bathroom from where she called the bodyguard, Pascal Douvier, and Kourtney to tell them to hurry back because of what was happening on the second floor.
Pascal got back to the apartment right away, but he missed by two minutes the robbers who took only six minutes to complete the hold up.
Commenting on the incident, Steve Stanulis, a security specialist who provided services to Kim during the New York Fashion Week in February for 10 days said the reality star’s social media postings provided intruders the tip. “When she is posting, ‘Here I am, and this is the $5 million ring I am wearing, here’s where I am going,’ you are basically inviting someone to rob you,” Page Six quoted Stanulis.
Even Kanye asked him to stay 10 feet away and at times would jump in a car and tell Stanulis to take a cab instead.
“Sadly, the only person to blame for this incident is Kim Kardashian. She has tens of millions of dollars of jewelry, but she can’t pay for an armed guard to protect her?” Stanulis added. He said the security breach that happened five days ago when someone tried to grab Kim’s behind is an indicator of a weak security, although Stanulis said Douvier wrestled the prankster Vitalii Sediuk to the ground. Stanulis said Kanye fired him for “being too friendly” with Kim.
