Kevin Spacey plays President Frank Underwood in Netflix's "House of Cards," which is expected to start its fifth season in March 2017.

Speculations are rife that Doug Stamper may become the new Vice President in "House of Cards" Season 5. He is also expected to plan the murder of Frank Underwood so that Claire Underwood can become the new President.

It is no surprise that the First Lady has political ambitions and dreams of becoming the President one day. She even used her mother's demise to her advantage and she may leverage the President death as well to gain sympathy vote.

The First Lady is believed to plot and plan her husband's murder with the help of his confidante Stamper. In the past, fans have seen that Stamper is very loyal to the President and he has even killed for his master.

"We saw Claire turn on Frank last year," Michael Kelly, who plays Stamper, told CNN. "You've never seen Doug turn on Frank. We've never seen Frank turn on Doug."

However, Stamper now realizes that the President's end is near and his political career is almost over. That may be the reason why the former has shifted loyalties to the First Lady.

The reign of the First Lady as the upcoming President is about to start and Stamper realizes the significance of shifting camps. Stamper may prove to be such a wonderful asset to the upcoming President that she is also ready to name him as her Vice President.

On the other hand, Remy Danton will not be back on "House of Cards" Season 5. Mahershala Ali, who plays the character, said in an interview with Independent that the show has opened up his acting career for him.

"I just did my last season of 'House of Cards,'" Ali told the publication. "I'm no longer on the show, and because of our conversations and being able to contractually move out of that series. I've been able to take advantage of other opportunities and get a sense of what was available for me out there."

There are also rumors that it may be the last season for "House of Cards." It is expected to premiere on Netflix in March 2017.
