Idris Elba and Helen Mirren attend the Weinstein Company & Netflix's 2016 SAG after party hosted by Absolut Elyx at Sunset Tower on January 30, 2016 in West Hollywood, California.

There are still no details about the character played by Helen Mirren in "Fast 8." In a recent interview, the Academy Award winner revealed her passion for cars and talked about the possibility of having a female James Bond.

"I had always had a secret hankering to do 'Fast and Furious' because I love driving cars," Mirren told Variety. "Of course, when I finally got my chance, I wasn't driving the bloody car. I was in the back of an ambulance with Jason Statham."

As an actress, Mirren does not plan her career. For her, it is like potluck and she is always looking for something that is a little different from the last role she played.

While Mirren is not really into superheroes that much, she assured her fans that she is certainly someone who can fly. When asked if a woman could play Bond, the actress gave an unsure answer.

Mirren believes that a woman could play a character similar to Bond but she is not sure about a female version of the character because of its iconic status. The actress recalled Prospera in "The Tempest."

According to Mirren, certain older actors found it hysterically funny that she played a female version of Prospero, the male protagonist in William Shakespeare's play. The actress wants to avoid those people saying women cannot play men's roles but she still believes that anything is possible as there are no rules about anything.

Directed by F. Gary Gray, "Fast 8" is set to hit theaters on April 14, 2017. Joining Mirren and Statham in the cast are Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood, Vin Diesel, Lucas Black, Kristofer Hivju and Tyrese Gibson, who is set to play a recurring role in a new Fox series titled "Star," Deadline reported.

Aside from Mirren, "Fast 8" has several other powerhouse actresses in its cast. Among them are Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron and Jordana Brewster, among others.
