Netflix presents Marvel's Iron Fist at New York Comic-Con 2016.

Viewers have seen three-fourths of Marvel's "The Defenders" in action. With Luke Cage making his solo series debut to rave reviews and high ratings, much is being expected from the upcoming "Iron Fist". The superhero series, which stars Finn Jones of "Game of Thrones" fame, is said to said to introduce a rather peculiar kind of villains.

"It has to do with a number of things, but - if we had to boil it down - ['Iron Fist'] is a very hard look at the One Percent," Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said at the New York Comic Con, as quoted by CBR. "Or - in this particular case - the One Percent of the One Percent and how that affects our world on a day-to-day basis."

By one percent, Loeb meant to refer to the elite one percent of the society who influences much of the world as it is today. This coincides with the main setting of "Iron Fist" where protagonist Danny Rand grows up in a life of luxury and privilege in the high-end, financial world of New York. Iron Fist's world is very different from that of Matthew Murdock, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, all of whom dwell in smaller, less grand communities and live quiet lives.

"Iron Fist" Season 1 deals primarily with the origin of the superhero. At the tender of age of 10, he vanishes from the face of the Earth. The entire world is then led to believe that the son of a billionaire and an heir to a vast estate is gone. Conflict arises upon his return as a twenty-five year old adult gunning to reclaiming his parent's company.

"One of the things that's fantastic about the show is it's very much a mystery. It's very much about how do you go about proving who you are when there's no way to do that, and that's not just the story, that's also the theme of it, which is 'How do you go about proving who you are when no one knows, including yourself, what's happened to you?" Loeb said about the premise of "Iron Fist."

In an interview with MTV, star James Finn described his character as a "very complicated, complex, and troubled dude."

When asked what sets Iron Fist apart from the other superheroes on Netflix's Marvel roster, he said Danny Rand as a "real optimism in him and naiveté and a purity that a lot of the other superheroes don't have," adding that it's his innocent that sets him apart from the others.

"Iron Fist" will premiere on Netflix on March 17, 2017.
