‘Captain America 4’ possible without Chris Evans as Steve Rogers?

Actors Anthony Mackie, Chris Evans and Producer Kevin Feige of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR took part today in 'Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios' presentation.

Is it possible to have a "Captain America" movie without Steve Rogers himself actually in it? It appears that idea isn't that far out. In a recent interview, Marvel President Kevin Feige addressed the possibility of having a "Captain America" film without Chris Evans' character at the center of it.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe entering Phase 3, there are already a lot of questions about the fates of the current Avengers members. One of the speculated casualties in "Avengers: Infinity War" is Captain America, which means Chris Evans will retire as the genetically enhanced superhero and Sebastian Stan or Anthony Mackie could take over the mantle thereafter.

When Collider asked if such is a possibility, Feige answered in the affirmative. "I'm not saying we'll do it in the movie but I've read Captain America comics that don't have Steve Rogers in them."

Fans of the comic books would know that Steve Rogers didn't always appear as Captain America. At some point, the baton was passed to Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon and Bucky Barnes a.k.a Winter Soldier. Both characters are heavily involved in the "Captain America" franchise as close friends and ally to Evans' Steve.

As reported by We Got This Covered, Stan shared his thoughts about possibility suiting up as Captain America in the future. "It's so not up to me, and to be honest I really enjoy my job over there, I'm really happy going to work and doing what I do," Stan stated. "I love the character that I have. It's up to a lot of different things, and whatever Marvel decides, I'm game.

Prior to the release of "Captain America: Civil War," a source close to the movie said Stan had already been fitted for a Captain America costume, which coincides with the comic book event where Steve is apparently shot dead by a brainwashed Sharon Carter.

This is not to say that Evans' character is going to bite the dust soon, considering that no one ever stays dead in the MCU. However, this puts a green light on the possibility of having a different Captain America.
