WWE Rumors: Kurt Angle returning to feud with Daniel Bryan?

Daniel Bryan attends WWE SummerSlam Press Conference at Beverly Hills Hotel on August 13, 2013.

Olympic gold medalist and former WWE superstar Kurt Angle has been rumored to be going back to the WWE for several months now. In a recent question and answer portion with fans, Angle revealed that a match with Daniel Bryan is still very possible.

The 47-year-old Olympic hero has been campaigning online for the WWE to sign him back and have some closure. There were several reports throughout the year saying that fans could very well see Angle soon but WWE chairman Vince McMahon is worried about his injury and substance-abuse history.

It should be noted that Angle has been sober for more than three years but his neck is a serious issue since it has been surgically repaired five times. However, he has revealed in many interviews that there is mutual interest between him and the WWE, and it is only a matter of time until we see him again on WWE TV.

In a recent Facebook Q&A, Angle revealed that he is really interested in wrestling Bryan, who is currently the SmackDown Live general manager. Even though Bryan has retired from in-ring competition, Angle believes that a match between them is still possible.

"I knew Bret wasn't possible because of his stroke 15+ years ago, so I'd say Bryan. We could still have it. I'm holding out hope but chances are very slim," Angle said, as transcribed by Wrestling Inc.

As pointed out by Angle, Bryan returning for one more match is very slim. The former WWE World Heavyweight champion was forced to retire from wrestling because of a lesion found in his brain that causes seizures. It was due to all the concussions he had in his career.

On the other hand, one other way Angle can return to the WWE is as a mentor of American Alpha. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan have openly said in many interviews that one of their biggest influences is Angle. All three stars have an amateur wrestling background which makes it easier to create a story.

According to The Inquisitr, Angle's return to WWE could be a non-wrestling role and a perfect way to introduce him as the new manager/mentor for Gable and Jordan. It would be like forming a new Team Angle as they take over the SmackDown tag team division.

Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. Check out the video below to see and listen to Angle's iconic wrestling theme entrance.
