Actor Benedict Cumberbatch (L) and director Scott Derrickson attend the Marvel Studios presentation during Comic-Con International 2016 at San Diego Convention Center on July 23, 2016 in San Diego, California.

"Doctor Strange" gave movie fans a glimpse at another interesting comic book superhero whose role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is still unknown. Recently, the movie's director shared a few interesting insights about the film and its connection to "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Infinity War."

The post-credit scene featured in "Doctor Strange" confirmed previous speculations of Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) appearance in the movie. At the end of the Marvel movie, the God of Thunder had a quick conversation with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in New York City.

It appears that the Avenger will need Doctor Strange's help to locate his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Released halfway through the movie's credits, the scene served as a teaser for the upcoming movie "Thor: Ragnarok."

The snippet may have appeared in Scott Derrickson's Marvel movie, however, he was not the one who filmed the said scene. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director revealed that the scene was a part of Taika Waititi's upcoming "Thor" movie.

Marvel Studio executive Kevin Feige was also instrumental in adding a Doctor Strange and Thor encounter in the said movie, according to Derrickson. The powerful sorcerer will play an important role in completing a plotline for Waititi's film.

Apart from the Marvel superhero's connection to "Thor: Ragnarok," the film also contained elements that teased the immense power of one of the six Infinity stones. Moviegoers saw Doctor Strange's mystical abilities, as well as the character's mysterious amulet, the Eye of Agamotto.

Known as the Time Stone, the said gem gave Doctor Strange the power to manipulate time. It was one of the story elements that Feige insisted be added to the movie, according to the director.

The addition of the said Infinity stone also helped filmmaker Joe Russo to iron out plot details for the upcoming "Infinity War" movies. Director Derrickson even gushed over the future of the MCU and described it as an "awesome" journey.

Meanwhile, despite the studio's direction to incorporate the said Infinity stone to the Derrickson's movie, the filmmaker shared in an interview with Cinema Blend that it was a story element that they also considered. The director added, "It was something that just evolved organically."

"Doctor Strange" was released on Nov. 4, while "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Infinity War" are expected to hit movie theaters in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Watch the trailer for "Doctor Strange" below:
