'The Big Bang Theory' stars Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons attend The Paley Center For Media's 33rd Annual PALEYFEST Los Angeles ÔThe Big Bang Theory' at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

The creators of "The Big Bang Theory" are currently working on a spinoff that will feature a young Sheldon Cooper.

According to Variety, a script deal is expected to be finalized by the creators of the hit TV series and the network. The spinoff will chronicle the life of a young Sheldon who grows up in Texas.

In the current show, Jim Parsons plays the role of an adult Sheldon. But in the spinoff, he is not expected to make an appearance. Instead, Parsons will be involved with the project behind the cameras as an executive producer. He will also be teaming up with co-creators Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro.

Meanwhile, TV Line is speculating on the possibility of Laurie Metcalf reprising her role as Sheldon's mom, Mary. In the series, Mary has already made tons of appearances. Since she's Sheldon's mom and the character grew up with her, it's possible that the actress will also be tapped for the role.

Unfortunately, the spinoff is still in its early stages and nothing has been finalized yet. What is only known is that CBS is willingly including the project into their roster. There are also rumors that the spinoff will replace "The Big Bang Theory." After all, an 11th season hasn't been confirmed, and some cast members' contracts haven't been renewed yet.

At present, Johnny Galecki, Parsons and Kaley Cuoco's contracts have yet to be amended. Luckily for the co-stars, everyone is willing to sign on in the show even without an increase in their pay. In the next few months, a renewal or cancellation for "The Big Bang Theory" will be announced by its creators and the network executives.

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 10 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
