Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J7 Prime are the two variants smartphones that have been launched by Samsung this year. These two variants are the upgraded version of Galaxy J7 that was launched in 2015 last year.

Here is the comparison of Galaxy J7 (2016), Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J7 (2015) on the basis of their specifications, features and price:

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J7 Prime are packed in a metal body whereas Galaxy J7 has a plastic body. The Galaxy J7 (2016) ,Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J7 measures 151.7 x 76 x 7.8 mm, 151.7 x 75 x 8 mm and 152.2 x 78.7 x 7.5 mm, respectively.

All the three devices sport 5.5-inch display, however difference is that Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J7 have Super AMOLED HD screen that provides pixel density of 267 ppi whereas Galaxy J7 Prime holds Full HD IPS LCD screen that offers pixel density of 401 ppi.

Processor, RAM, Storage

The Galaxy J7 (2016) receives power from Snapdragon 617 chipset and has 2 GB RAM with 16 GB of native storage. The Galaxy J7 Prime is powered by Exynos 7870 processor and comes with two variants of internal storage capacity like 16 GB and 32 GB with 3 GB of RAM.

On the other hand, the older Galaxy J7 has Snapdragon 615 chipset and 1.5 GB of RAM with an in-house storage capacity of 16 GB. All three smartphones feature microSD card slot to support up to 256 GB.

Software and Camera

The Galaxy J7 came preinstalled with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and it has received Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS upgrade, Phone Arena reported. The Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J7 Prime come preloaded with Android 6.01 Marshmallow OS.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J7 both are equipped with 13-megapixel rear facing camera along with autofocus and LED flash. Both the devices have 5-megapixel front facing camera with LED flash for shooting selfies.

The Galaxy J7 Prime also features 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash but its 8-megapixel front camera lacks the LED flash. However, the Galaxy J7 (2016) and J7 feature LED flash for their front-facing camera.  

Battery and Price

The Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J7 Prime are power packed with 3,300 mAh capacity battery whereas Galaxy J7 has 3,000 mAh battery to keep the lights on.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) is available at the price of Rs 15,990 ($239) while the Galaxy J7 Prime can be bought at Rs 18,990 ($284). The Galaxy J7 can be owned at the price of Rupees 13,490 ($202).
