"The Voice" coach and country music singer Blake Shelton will hold the first concert at the Beaver Stadium of Penn State University in Pennsylvania. The 1960-opened football stadium has been expanded to accommodate 107,000 seats in recent years. It never had an event that was non-Penn State.
A concert was first announced for the school's home upset over Ohio State on Oct. 22. It then revealed Shelton's performance as the headline during the school team's 41-14 win over Iowa on Nov. 5, Saturday.
"The Voice" coach's big event at Pennsylvania's university will be on July 8, 2017 as "Happy Valley Jam." Concert promoter Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and Basics Entertainment presented the event and tickets will sell on Nov. 16. To open the show are Adley Stump and David Ray while Chris Young and duo Big & Rich will also perform, GoPSUSports.com reported.
Meanwhile, in NBC's "The Voice" arena, Shelton's girlfriend Gwen Stefani defended her beau from fellow coach Adam Levine's jest on Twitter on Nov. 6, Sunday. She responded to Levine's "I wanna punch young Blake Shelton's face" tweet which came with a black-and-white photo of Shelton's teen years.
The Maroon 5 front man and the country crooner are known for their bromance on the singing competition. Stefani is set to return to the judges’ chair in Season 12 in February.
While it appeared to be just for fun, Stefani did not let slide of Levine’s tweet. Her followers showed their support by throwing back the joke to Levine. They posted younger and current pictures of him, tweeting that they want to punch both.
On the singing competition’s episode on Nov. 7, Monday, Shelton lost singers Jason Warrior and Dana Harper, while Levine bid goodbye to Riley Elmore and Simon Gundy. Fellow Season 11 coaches Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus watched their team members Josh Halverson and Kylie Rothfield (Keys) and Belle Jewel and Sophia Urista (Cyrus) eliminated.
Presumably for this week’s elections, NBC crammed 20 contestants in a two-hour live show. Many fans were not happy when they noticed the episode seemed to be rushed and the decision of the judges may have been hasty, Fox News reported.
