Story speculations have been rife about the upcoming sequel to JK Rowling's new movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Recently, the "Harry Potter" author posted a social media message to clarify some of the rumors.
Rowling took to Twitter on Nov. 14, Monday, to refute timeline speculations for the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts" sequel. The novelist stated that the film's second installment will not pick up immediately where the first movie left off.
The "Harry Potter" author's social media post was made in response to a report posted on the fan site Snitch Seeker. Following Newt Scamander's (Eddie Redmayne) adventures in New York City, the sequel's story will continue days or a few weeks after the events in the Big Apple, according to the report.
Apart from timeline speculations, the same report also made mention of a new story location that will take beloved characters to Paris. In an earlier interview with Stuart Craig, the "Harry Potter" production designer revealed the new French location, as well as a similar 1926 timeline for the sequel.
The "Fantastic Beasts" sequel's Paris location was also confirmed by Rowling in her Twitter message. However, the novelist did not reveal other details about the movie's second installment.
Meanwhile, fans can expect to see a familiar character in the "Fantastic Beasts" movie franchise. A young Albus Dumbledore will soon make an appearance in upcoming films.
At this time, casting activities for the iconic "Harry Potter" wizard is still ongoing, but it appears that Rowling has an actor in mind for the role. The novelist made the revelation during an earlier interview with E! News where she teased that she already identified an actor to potentially play the young Dumbledore.
However, the writer declined to reveal the identity of her preferred actor for the role. Rowling explained, "Because if that person doesn't get cast, then the person who does get cast will blame me forever for having said it, won't they? So, I'm going to just keep quiet."
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will hit movie theaters on Nov. 18, while the sequel is expected for release in 2018. Watch the trailer below:
