Bigbang singer G-Dragon and 2NE1 group member CL are two of the hottest South Korean musicians in the entertainment industry. A group of American rappers recently shared their thoughts about the Kpop singers and their hip-hop music videos.
Kpop music took the world by storm with its unique beat and lively music videos. Its popularity has extended outside of Asia, from European and North American countries such as the U.S. Several South Korean musicians have also made a name for themselves in the Hollywood music scene such as Psy, G-Dragon, CL and more.
Recently, the team from digital media outlet 88 Rising asked several American rappers to watch CL's "Hello B----es" music video, as well as Bigbang's "Good Boy" music clip, according to Hiphop DX. American artists such as Cam'ron, Lil Yachty, Ghostface Killah, Jazz Cartier, Desiigner, Flatbush Zombies, GoldLink and 21 Savage were asked to comment on the two music videos, as well as choose between the 2NE1 singer and G-Dragon.
The American rappers were surprised with the quality of the two music videos and highlighted elements such as stage design and choreography. CL was even compared to the famous Hollywood rapper Nicki Minaj, while G-Dragon was dubbed the Asian Chris Brown.
With the two Kpop stars' impressive performances and hip-hop vibes, the American rappers had a hard time choosing between the musicians. Some commended CL's "swag" dance moves while others made mention of G-Dragon's unique music style.
Meanwhile, the two South Korean artists were included in XXL magazine's list of Korean rappers that avid music lovers should know. G-Dragon's Kpop sound was described as "rap over electro-hop" given hit tracks such as "Crayon" and "Good Boy."
CL was recognized for her "hybrid" music style evident in the 2NE1 singer's songs "Dr. Pepper" and "Lifted." With tracks that lean towards pop rather than rap, CL's music style was branded "pop-rap."
In other news, the Bigbang band leader and CL both nabbed a spot on the Business of Fashion's (BoF) list of global fashion trendsetters, according to Korean news outlet TV Report. Dubbed the "BoF 500," the list acknowledged individuals from various professions who helped shape the global fashion industry.
CL's inclusion in the 2016 "BoF 500" marked the first time that the 2NE1 singer made it to the list and a second time for the Kpop musician G-Dragon. Watch the clip of the two artists' music video battle below:
