S.H.E.

HIM International Music, the record label of Taiwanese girl group S.H.E., immediately dismissed rumors that the girl band would go on a three-year break.

The rumors were fueled by the pregnancy of Ella Chen who said at the group’s last performance for 2016 at the Spring Wave Music and Art Festival finale on Sunday, “There are four of us here, not three.” Ella was referring to the four-month-old baby in her tummy which led to speculations that S.H.E. would rest to give time for Ella to raise her forthcoming baby.

Besides Ella, group mates Selina Jen and Hebe Tien said they hope Ella would be ready to resume her singing career when her child turns one. HIM International Music stressed “We will definitely consider these matters seriously, especially when it affects S.H.E.’s personal lives.” The record company has not yet spoken to Ella about the details of her baby-raising plans, Toggle reported.

Chen, 35, married Alvin Lai, a Malaysian businessman, in 2012 in Malacca. The Star reported that based on the gifts the couple received from Power Station, a Taiwanese rock band, during the Spring Wave Music and Art Festival in Guangzhou, the baby could be a boy. But Ella said she would confirm the gender of her child at the launch of her single on the last week of October.

To announce her pregnancy, she posted an image of herself and husband with several pregnancy test sticks.

There were problems recently with individual schedules of the three-member girl band which explains why S.H.E. had fewer performance and appearance as a group for festivities that mark the end of the year. The group celebrated their 15th anniversary on Nov. 13 which they marked by singing their newest single, “Always Here.”
