'Resident Evil 7' rumors; Demo version of 'Resident Evil 2' remake included in the sequel; Cross-save features for the Xbox One, PC versions teased?

'Resident Evil 7 Biohazard' is the latest installment to Capcom's survival horror first-person shooter game 'Resident Evil.'

New "Resident Evil 7" details will feature a cross-save compatibility between the Xbox One and PC versions and a "Resident Evil 2' remake demo in the game.

Capcom teased that "Resident Evil 7" will feature a cross-save feature for Xbox One and PC versions on the Japanese "Resident Evil 7" magazine. Capcom explained that game’s cross-save feature, which will allow players to save their progress on the Xbox One and continue playing on PC and vice versa, IGN reported.

Cross-saves are a key feature of Xbox Play Anywhere, the Microsoft promotion that sees buyers receive PC and Xbox One versions of participating games for the price of a single purchase. In the case of multiplayer titles, cross-play is also included.

It raises questions as to whether Capcom will announce that "Resident Evil 7" will become one of the first third-party games to take advantage of the scheme. Capcom has been specific that it is specifically PC and Xbox that will benefit from the feature, and cross-saving is not a widely useful feature without a cross-buy option. The Japanese publisher did not explained any further details.

In other news, it seems that Capcom may add something special for "Resident Evil 7" during its launch next year as as a NeoGaf user claimed that the strip numbers on the left hand side of the "Beginning Hour" demo featured clues on "Resident Evil 2" remake.

The second string of numbers corresponds to the product ID of the first "Resident Evil" in the PlayStation console specifically the "Director’s cut" which that included a demo of "Resident Evil 2".

Gamers speculated that Capcom will include the "Resident Evil 2" remake demo in "Resident Evil 7" as soon as the game is finished and will likely be added in a bundle pack, Gamerant reported.

There are also rumors that Capcom will announce "Resident Evil 2" remake during the PlayStation Experience event. Game producer Masachika Kawata stated in an interview that there is a separate producer who is working on the remake and hopes that they will reveal more information about the game very soon.

Kawata added that "Resident Evil 2" remake will have an online like gameplay and other features that will be unique from the original game.

"Resident Evil 7" will launch on Jan. 14, 2017 for the PS4, PS VR, Xbox One and PC platforms.
