Akuma as seen in 'Street Fighter V'

Capcom officially unveiled Akuma as the next new character for "Street Fighter V" during the recent PlayStation Experience event. This version of Akuma has a new look and sports several new fighting moves and special techniques compared to his iteration in past games.

Akuma now has a long mane but he is still wearing his traditional dark blue fighting Gi. In the reveal trailer he is shown using some of his traditional moves such as his fireballs launched in the air as well as his dive kick but they now have a few variations.

The dive kick now has an EX version which begins with a kicking somersault that can deal damage if it connects, Gamespot reported.

His V-Skill is known as the Rakan and places Akuma in a defensive stance to quickly parry incoming attacks. His V-Trigger is known as the Dohatsu Shoten, which empowers his Gohakodens. When performing the Goshoryuken, Akuma will now end the attack by grabbing the opponent and driving them to the ground.

The character will have two different Critical Art techniques. One is known as the Sekia Koretsuha, in which he directs energy to his palms and slams the ground to create a destructive pillar. The other is Akuma's popular Shun Goku Satsu move in which he strikes the opponent multiple times in quick succession.

"Akuma returns to 'Street Fighter V,' displaying his mastery of Ansatsuken and while he has become burlier than previous games, he possesses quick footwork and devastating combos," reads Capcom's statement from the official website.

The announcement also confirms Akuma will be a part of the Holiday Content DLC launching in December. The bundle also includes B-Boy Ryu and B-Girl Chun-Li. Along with Akuma comes his story mode, Premium Battle and Nostalgia costumes.

Also launching on Dec. 20 is the 2017 Season Pass. This season pass will include Akuma and five other DLC characters that will be released next year. It will also contain Premium Battle Costumes with colors unlocked and an exclusive PS4 theme. This season pass will cost $29.99.

The identities of these five new characters were not revealed but their silhouettes were teased at the tail-end of the trailer.
