The Boro was nipped by Southampton, 0-1, on the road at the St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday for their second loss in the past four rounds, as per Goal.

After a goalless first half of action, Moroccan midfielder Sofiane Boufal netted the lone goal of the contest in the 53rd minute with a left-footed strike that curved into the top corner of Boro goalkeeper Victor Valdes' net.

Head coach Aitor Karanka's squad was not able to respond with any goals as they failed to keep much of the ball possession throughout the match.

Meanwhile, Liverpool was held to a 2-2 draw by lowly squad West Ham United in their own home ground of Anfield also last Sunday, Yahoo Sports reported.

English midfielder Adam Lallana broke the game's deadlock for the Reds early in the fifth minute with a volley shot from the left side of the box.

However, the Hammers netted the next two goals, courtesy of midfielders Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio in the 27th and 39th minutes, to take the lead away from head coach Jürgen Klopp's side.

The Reds was able to find the equalizer three minutes after the restart with a goal from Belgian striker Divock Origi off a rebound play after West Ham keeper Darren Randolph blocked a shot by Sadio Mane.
