After a goalless first half of play, Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman broke the game's deadlock in the 64th minute with a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the top right corner of Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti's net.
Lazio then caught a bad break as midfielder Danilo Cataldi was booked with a straight red card for violent conduct just two minutes later with Strootman getting a yellow card.

Gianluca Lapadula netted the winning goal in the 86th minute with a right-footed strike following a set piece situation.
