"House of Cards" Season 5 has been rumored for cancellation due to some developmental difficulties being faced by the series. Although not directly related to the concern, Donald Trump's name has been highlighted in the background of the issue.

The critically acclaimed and high rating American political drama web television series from Netflix, "House of Cards," has reported to be having some internal issues. Based on the reports, the new creative team has been having some worries living up to the high standard set by the season 4 of the drama series creator.

Express detailed that such difficulty is stemming from the reported stepping down of series creator Beau Willimon. According to the report, Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, have been promoted from being senior writers since 2014 as the new show runners of the series. However, despite such tenured line-up, "House of Cards" follow-up may not be possible for next year.

In view of the fact of its potential cancellation, reports claiming the reason behind the stepping down of creator Willimon proliferated online. Online reports suggest that Willimon is stepping down and having a career hiatus in order to be an Anti-Trump Activist.

The DailyStar reported that "House of Cards" creator will be leaving the fictional political environment to spend more time on the formation of a real-life political movement known as Action Group Network, a progressive political organization that aims to provide a "vocal, active, united opposition" to Donal Trump.

Since there is still no confirmation of its cancellation, some reports suggest that new characters will be joining "House of Cards" Season 5 if it will indeed be pushed through. According to Express, veteran actress Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott from "The Amazing Spiderman" will be joining the season as the new characters. With that being said, it would be better to wait and see for further updates of the upcoming new season of "House of Cards."
