Bayley is set to face Charlotte Flair at the Royal Rumble for the Raw Women's Championship. However, she is not expected to win the title at the event but there are big plans for her at WrestleMania 33.

The two-time NXT women's champion earned the opportunity to become the No. 1 contender on Monday Night Raw with a big win over Nia Jax, as recapped by WWE.com. Sasha Banks came out and distracted Nia to help Bayley hit her finisher off the top rope for the victory.

Earlier in the night, it was Stephanie McMahon who booked the No. 1 contender's match between Bayley and Nia. The Raw commissioner revealed that she did not like Bayley on her show but Raw GM Mick Foley did everything to make it happen.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer (subscription required), the segment was purposely done because the WWE is giving Bayley the "Daniel Bryan" push. It looks like the company wants the 27-year-old superstar to become the ultimate underdog of the women's division.

It should be noted that Bryan became the ultimate underdog champion in 2014 at WrestleMania XXX. The Authority did all they could to prevent him from winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship but Bryan pulls through to win it all.

Bayley's character has a lot of potential since kids like her and she is not difficult to hate. If the current plan is indeed giving him the ultimate underdog story, she will not win the women's title at the Royal Rumble.

However, there is a big chance that Charlotte is going to continue her assault on Bayley so that fans will feel sympathetic about her. It will likely take a month or two to get make it happen and they surely get booked in a rematch at WrestleMania 33.

At the Grandest Stage of Them All, Bayley would have her last chance against Charlotte and the women's championship. It is where "The Huggable One" wins her first main roster title and become the biggest babyface in the women's division.

Nevertheless, Meltzer pointed out that despite Vince McMahon being high on Bayley at the moment, there is still a chance that plans will change. The WWE now has to build Charlotte vs. Bayley at the Royal Rumble in a big way.
