Actresses Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Holly Marie Combs celebrate the WB's 'Charmed' 150th episode cake cutting on the set at Paramount Studios on February 1, 2005.

TV series from the late 90s to the early 2000s are making a huge comeback. Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham returned to Stars Hollow in Netflix's all new episodes of "Gilmore Girls" while Wentworth Miller is reprising his role as Michael Scofield in this year's "Prison Break" Season 5. The hit series "Charmed" is not behind on the trend as The CW has confirmed that the magical trio will return for a reboot.

It has been announced that The CW has ordered a "Charmed" reboot pilot for production. Unlike "Gilmore Girls" and "Prison Break," which retained its original cast members, the "Charmed" reboot is presumed to focus on a new cast.

Although not a lot is revealed about the project, the show's original cast and diehard fans have expressed mixed reaction to the supposed project.

Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell in all eight seasons of "Charmed," wished the new generation well. Alyssa Milano, who played Phoebe Halliwell, sent love to the fans, saying "There are no fans like you. You're the best of the best." Milano also shared a throwback photo on Instagram with guest star Billy Zane. Rose McGowan, who joined the show after Shannen Doherty made her exit, said that the original four are "irreplaceable."

According to TVLine, the "Charmed" reboot will not be connected to the original series starred by Combs, Milano, McGowan and Doherty.

"At this point, it is a self-contained, self-sustained show. There is the power of three element in there, but at this time, it is a very standalone show," The CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed.

The "Charmed" reboot will be set four decades, particularly in 1976, before the original series and will revolve around three witches who band together to fight an evil force in a small New England town.

The magical trio are not blood sisters, contrary to the original "Charmed" series. The new characters include Tina, who is "reserved, even standoffish"; Paige, who is wholesome and "all-American"; and Annie, who is "intense, smart, and quick to anger."

According to US Magazine, The CW has commissioned "Jane the Virgin" writers Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin to helm the story for the "Charmed" reboot.
