Samsung has started the official roll out of Android 7.0 Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. The software update is expected to hit soon to Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, S6, and S6 Edge.

Samsung was rumored to release the official Android 7.0 Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. However, the South Korean tech giant has already begun the roll out of the software update. Beta testers have begun reporting that they are seeing notifications of the Android 7.0 Nougat update that has a size of 215 MB, Phone Arena reported.

Beta testers are receiving the update of a smaller size since they are already beta version of Android N. Other users are expected to get a much larger sized update. The non-beta carrier variants of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to receive the update later this month

The Android Nougat update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge brings around 20 new features that includes App shorts, multi-window mode, and improvements to Samsung's new UX such as the changing the native resolution of the display to consume less battery juice.

The update also brings along the latest Android security patch for this month. However, there is no confirmation on when the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will be rolled out to Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users.

In December 2016, the Galaxy Note 5 was spotted on GFXBench benchmarking platform with Android 7.0 Nougat,  Ubergizmo reported. It hinted that Samsung started testing Note 7 with the latest Android N software. Now that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge models are receiving Nougat update, the South Korean would be soon launching the latest software to Note 5 in the near future. It is speculated to arrive before the end of the first quarter of this year.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+, S6 Edge and S6 smartphones are also in line to receive the update. These devices are likely to receive the update in the second quarter of 2017 after the rumored release of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones in April.
