After paying a visit to the set of the film in Italy in 2016, a French magazine published just recently a full report of what they saw, confirming that the God of War will be Gal Gadot's main threat in the upcoming DC film "Wonder Woman." The site also released some behind-the-scenes photos for fans to pore over.
After months of rumor and speculation and clamoring for details about the identity of the primary antagonist in the upcoming superhero film, French magazine Studio Cine has finally revealed that it is going to be Ares. The article has not yet been published online, but a generous French website translated some key passages from it from French to English and posted it online.
According to the article translated by Les Toiles Heroiques, Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, will steal a notebook containing a secret formula for a kind of gas that has the potential to annihilate the entire planet. This notebook will reportedly catch the interest of Ares, who harbors a grudge against humanity for having been created by his father Zeus.
"I play a pilot who works for the Allies and spies on the Germans without their knowledge. My character steals a notebook filled with scientific formulas in an Ottoman base. He steals a plane but is shot down in the open sea," explained the site, shedding light on how Trevor will get involved in the story.
In the story, Zeus will reportedly create the Amazons which Ares will reduce to slavery. With the help of Zeus, the Amazons will revolt. Unfortunately, Zeus will die at the hands of his son. Diana Prince will become Wonder Woman and help Steve Trevor and a squad of proud arm-in-law in search of the one who seeks to exterminate the entire humanity through a lethal gas.
There were previous speculations that the German officer featured in the first trailer for the film, played by Danny Huston, was Ares. However, some claim that Huston will play the role of a human in the film so it is possible that Ares will be disguised as a human, noted Slashfilm.
Aside from Ares, another villain who will pose a major threat to the female superhero is Doctor Poison. "Wonder Woman" will have its international release on June 2.
