Huawei is releasing the new P8 Lite 2017 model which is a refreshed version of the 2015 version. The new Android smartphone will be available for the European market.
The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 specs include a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels using an IPS panel. An OLED screen panel would have been better as it is more efficient in using battery power. Design-wise, the new smartphone looks more similar to the previous Honor handsets and not the P8 series.
Powering the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 version is the Kirin 655 chip that boasts an octa-core A53 processor, GSM Arena has learned. It will also have 3GB RAM and the Mali-T830MP2 GPU to take care of the mobile video games and FHD video files. The internal storage capacity is set at 16GB but there is option for expandable storage.
Huawei uses the same big.LITTLE architecture for the octa-core processor. The first quad-core cluster is clocked at 1.7GHz for the heavy loads while the second cluster is clocked at 2.1GHz for the little tasks such as mobile browsing and texting.
The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 version also has improved battery life at 3000mAh compared to the previous version's 2200mAh, Android Headlines reported. For mobile photography, the back has a 12MP camera while the selfie snapper has an 8MP camera.
Unfortunately, users would have to choose between dual SIM mode or to use the other slot for the microSD which is supported up to 128GB. The new phone does run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Huawei's P8 Lite 2017 price is set at around $255 which puts it at the low-end range possibly competing with Samsung's Galaxy C Pro or A series. There is no word on whether there will be a release date for the United States and Asian market but the EU launch is set around the end of January.
