Bioware has released a brand new trailer for "Mass Effect: Andromeda." Instead of focusing on the story or gameplay mechanics it focuses on introducing the Tempest and the Nomad, the two main vehicles that will be used to travel across space and explore alien planets.

The Tempest is similar in design to the Normandy from the original trilogy but it is not built for direct combat. It is explained in the trailer that the Tempest trades off heavy armor and weapons in favor of better speed and stealth. It is so fast that it can travel 13 lightyears in a single day.

A large map room and conference room is shown in the trailer as well as several key facilities like a galley, living quarters and the captain's cabin. Down in the lowest section of the Tempest is the cargo bay, which is where the Nomad roving vehicle is kept.

Previous games in the series featured a similar vehicle, most notably the Mako and the Hammerhead from the first two games. The Nomad takes inspiration from the Mako more than the latter, particularly with its six-wheel design and thrusters. It also has the ability to scan a planet for resources and can then deploy devices for resource gathering.

While the Mako had thrusters it was easy to manipulate and reach locations the developers did not intend gamers to easily reach, Polygon reported. It is possible that this will happen again with the Nomad, with the vehicle getting stuck or reaching secret spots not meant to be explored until much later into the story.

The trailer also introduces the Tempest's pilot, a Salarian named Kallo Jath. This adds to the list of returning races from the original trilogy, Attack of the Fanboy reported. Other than the human race, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is also bringing back the Krogan, Turian, Salarian and Asari races.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will release on March 21 in North America and on March 23 in Europe. The official gameplay trailer can be viewed below:
