Fans of KBS 2TV's "Hwarang" are in for a treat. Go Ara, who plays Kim Ah Ro in the historical drama, has opened up about her close bond with co-stars Park Seo Joon and ZE:A's Park Hyung Sik.
In an interview with The Star magazine, as cited by Soompi, Go talked about what it is really like to work the two male lead actors. She revealed that she heavily relied on Seo Joon and Hyung Sik while filming the historical series.
Earlier this week, the Korean magazine released Go's recent pictorial for its January-February edition. Displaying a charming aura with a brightly colored skirt and a dark, gleaming top, the model-turned-actress teased fans what they can expect from her "Hwarang" character Kim Ah Ro after she came learned the real identity of Sam Maek Jong aka Kim Ji Dwi (Hyung Sik).
According to Go, there will be a lot more scenes where the heroine will warm the viewers' hearts. She assured that female viewers will be able to consistently empathize with her.
Besides that, Go also opened up about her personal life. The "You're All Surrounded" actress revealed she is quite a clumsy woman dissimilar to other people's view of her.
"I'm bright and more simple than you would expect," Go stressed. "Many people view me as stable and firm but I'm actually quite clumsy."
Also known as "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth," "Hwarang" has received harsh criticisms from viewers since it premiered on Dec. 19, 2016. For many, the 20-episode historical drama seems to carry no weight at all.
"The first episode gave a flashback of 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,' with the distractive storytelling and unnatural acting of the lead actors," a netizen wrote on the drama's bulletin board, as cited by The Korea Times. However, compared with Lee Ji-Eun and Lee Joon-Gi's SBS drama, the overall tone of "Hwarang" is splendid and cheerful.
Also, "Hwarang" features a serious side that deals with the real history of Silla's King Jinheung and other Hwarang members. Also starring Choi Min Ho, Do Ji Han, Cho Yoon Woo, Kim Tae Hyung and Kim Hyun Joon, the series airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10:00 PM (KST). Check it out below:
