2NE1 members marked the end of their career as a Kpop girl group with a ballad that paid homage to their years together. Recently, the band's farewell track "Goodbye" reached several impressive milestones just several days after its release.
2NE1's "Goodbye" rose to the top of iTunes charts shortly after its debut. Released on Jan. 20, Friday, the Kpop girl group's final single nabbed the first spot on eight Southeast Asian countries' iTunes charts as of Jan. 22, Sunday, according to Korea Herald. The said countries include Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
Moreover, the view count of 2NE1's music video for "Goodbye" already surpassed the 6 million mark. As of Jan. 23, Monday, the said music clip reached 6.19 million views on YouTube.
Described as the Kpop girl group's official last single, the said track served as the band's farewell message to their avid fans. Composed by Rook Monroe and music producer J Gramm, with lyrics from Hyuk Oh Band's Oh Hyuk and 2NE1 leader CL, "Goodbye" features a guitar music arrangement mixed with the haunting voices of the band members.
The black-and-white music video also included snapshots of the Kpop girl group's various performances and appearances over the years. Haunting scenes of Park Bom and Sandara Park were also included, as well as shots of CL watching a montage of the group's moments together.
2NE1's agency YG Entertainment announced the Kpop girl group's disbandment in November 2016. Band member Gong Minzy also left the group several months prior the said announcement to start a solo career.
Meanwhile, avid 2NE1 fans hoping to see the Kpop group perform their final single on stage will be disappointed. A YG Entertainment representative told local reporters that the band will not participate in any promotional activities, Yonhap quoted the representative as saying.
