2NE1 fans are in for a treat. Shortly after releasing "Good Bye," the group's former leader CL has opened up about her feelings over the disbandment and revealed the sad story that inspired their final track.

2NE1 may have called it quits, but Minzy, Bom, Dara and CL still have all the love for each other. In a recent interview with the local media, as cited by Soompi, the latter revealed the full story behind how their final single came to be and admitted that it was not a song that was easy for her to write.

After Minzy officially left the group in April 2016, the remaining 2NE1 members were prepping for a new album. At the time, CL wrote "Good Bye" as if it was a letter addressed to the former.

"I adjusted [the lyrics] so that it was a message to Minzy as well as a message to the fans at the same time," CL added. "[The first time] I heard this song, lyrics [about Minzy] just came to my mind and I cried. The lyrics pretty much came from my tears."

The "Hello Bitches" hit-maker, who has been with 2NE1 since 2009, also shared her honest thoughts on the disbandment. While she will surely miss the time they worked together, the rapper believed that the split was a reasoned decision.

"Even though it's regrettable, I hope each of us is able to work our way through the separate paths we take," CL added. It came days after Minzy took to Instagram to express her disappointment regarding 2NE1's farewell song.

In the caption, the 23-year-old singer said she was disappointed to find out about the group's final song through the press, rather than being informed by her former co-members. Also, she expressed gratitude toward fans at home and abroad for their continued support.

Meanwhile, 2NE1's "Good Bye" has debuted at number one worldwide on the iTunes chart, according to Korean newsoutlet OSEN. With the group's wide fan based, it is no surprise that their farewell track topped the charts in at least eight countries within hours of release. Check it out below:
