Despite the recent end of "Goblin," the tvN drama continue to top a TV popularity chart for the second consecutive week since 2017 started. "Legend of the Blue Sea" also dropped to third place, with the variety program "Infinite Challenge" claiming the SBS drama's previous spot at number two.
"Goblin," also known as "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," ended its 16-episode run with a finale that featured Shin (Gong Yoo) living his immortal life while waiting for the reincarnation of his goblin bride Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun). Recently, the tvN drama's penultimate week broadcast topped the Content Power Index (CPI) during the period Jan. 9 to Jan. 15.
The tvN fantasy series posted CPI scores of 315.1 points, according to data from entertainment company CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News. However, the SBS mermaid drama "Legend of the Blue Sea" lost its number two ranking on the said TV popularity chart.
"Infinite Challenge" rose six places to claim the second spot with a CPI score of 227.2 points. The MBC variety program, currently on a seven-week break, featured an episode that challenged "Running Man" star Yoo Jae Suk to locate a person in South Korea who did not know him.
Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho's drama slipped to number three with a score of 226.4 points. Landing at number four is the KBS historical series "Hwarang" with CPI scores of 224.9 points.
In other news, several songs from the "Goblin" OST continue to dominate various local music charts including Instiz. For the week period Jan. 16 to Jan. 22, four tracks from the tvN drama nabbed a spot in the top five ranking of Instiz's Singles chart, All Kpop reported.
Ailee's "Goblin" OST track titled "I Will Go to You Like the First Snow" topped the said chart with 37,153 points, while Crush's "Beautiful" nabbed the third spot with 20,020 points. "Stay with Me" that features EXO's Chanyeol and Punch's vocals landed at number four followed by Soyu's I Miss You" at number five with 13,467 points and 12,361 points, respectively.
"Goblin" aired its final episode on Jan. 21, Saturday, on tvN. Watch a clip from the finale below:
