Brandon Ingram has been likened as the second coming of Kevin Durant though it may take years before he can evolve into the one-time MVP. Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton sees the potential in him, something that he expects to show as they progress along.

Like Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell, Ingram is seen as another piece of the Lakers’ future. He did have his share of fine moments early this NBA season though his recent games have seen him perform poorly.

In the last three games, Brandon Ingram has shown a woeful 2-23 and has even had scoreless back-to-back games. It could be a case of the alleged ‘rookie wall’ with the 19-year-old struggling with his jump shot. It was the same problem that Julius Randle had when he entered the league some years back and something Ingram needs to work on if he is to flourish as many foresee him to be.

With the recent slump and his age, it comes to no surprise that Brandon Ingram has shown hesitation particular in the Lakers match against the Utah Jazz. He admitted having a couple of open shots but said he wasn’t ready to pull the trigger, according to a report from the OC Register.

Walton has encouraged Brandon Ingram to take more shots, believing he can knock in three-pointers. In fact, the first-year Lakers coach sees the rookie capable of becoming one of the best three-point shooters in the league in the future.

The same insights were echoed by Jordan Clarkson. He sees the potential in Ingram and believes Ingram is simply having a rough stretch at the moment. Nick Young practically sees it the same way and believes his teammate will eventually get over the hump. Young is no stranger to bad shooting nights and believes Ingram will be fine.

Initially seen as a project player, Ingram will need time to evolve. But if the current season is any indication, he has shown flashes of it which Walton hopes pops up again soon, Lakers Nation reported.
