Jeremy Lin was aware from day one of the 2016 NBA season that his stint with the Brooklyn Nets would be a tough one. At 7-22, staying positive is hard but the 28-year-old refuses to give up.

Lin has been around to know how to deal with losses in his NBA career. Whether it be a blowout or a nail-biter, he and the team needs to move on, Nets Daily reported. Forgetting is easier said than done right now considering everyone should be in a festive mood.

That said, dealing with a five-game losing streak isn’t exactly the best Christmas gift that Lin and the Nets would want. Head coach Kenny Atkinson is aware of the psychological effects and he continues to stay on the positive side and work on trying to stop the bleeding.

Doing that may be tough at the moment considering he has yet to solve the point guard issue. Jeremy Lin is back but the fact is the star guard is still playing on borrowed time. Trading up may not be a feasible option unless it involves Lin or star center Brook Lopez.

Then again, there are still things that could happen before the NBA trade deadline in February 2017. General manager Sean Marks is sitting on almost $17.8 million of cap room so the Nets could be a team where some high-priced players could be dropped off.

The question is whether it would be feasible to burn that money for the rest of the season with the Nets likely having none to gain. Hence, the Nets are backed into a corner. Getting star-powered players is a possibility but such is in no way a promise of turning things around in time.

The positive thing that can be drawn out of it is an investment in the future. Marks plans to take a strategic approach on whoever they can land by the NBA trade deadline, the NY Post reported.

Brooklyn will not merely be a dumping ground for players headed to free agency in 2017. Marks and Atkinson will be weighing in, likely opting for players that they can keep more than just a couple of months.
