Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots in the "Transformers" lore.

A 30-second teaser was shelled out for Paramount's "Transformers: The Last Knight." From the looks of it, the sequel seems to serve as the culmination of every "Transformers" film that director Michael Bay helmed as he hinted that the film could be his last Cybertronian-themed featurette.

Bay has been directing the movie franchise for a decade now and has been constantly announcing in recent years that he is begging off from the movie series. However, it seems that the All Spark is too strong to resist as he went on in directing them over the years.

Fans and film critics, on the other hand, may have felt something that made them assume that Bay could mean it this time. In a statement posted on his website, the director that making "The Last Knight" is bittersweet for him.

He also stressed the millions of fans who never failed in watching all of the film's sequels, the "Transformers" inspired theme parks and even kids who were lucky enough to visit their sets. Bay went on saying that he loved making the films and added that this could be it.

The statement, however, also hinted that the director may not totally leave the franchise for good as he pointed out that they already set up a "writer's room" that aims to expand further the lore of the Cybertronian beings. He further explained that future films will be integrated in an entirely different manner and the events will be interconnected.

The film's synopsis was also posted on his website suggesting that humans and the Transformers are now on a clash and Optimus Prime is gone. More so, the world is on the brink of getting destroyed and its fate lies in the team of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock), an English Lord (Anthony Hopkins) and the Autobot Bumblebee.

From the given clues of the upcoming movie, it looks like Optimus' fate is pretty much bleak in this film. Be it known also that the sequel is slated to introduce the Autobot Hot Rod who was the successor of Optimus' All Spark and later on dubbed as Rodimus Prime. If such scenario would come to fruition, it is believed that the next film could see the Autobot leader being killed off for good, according to Nerdist.
