Hideo Kojima calls the Nintendo Switch 'gamer's dream'

Video game creator Hideo Kojima unveils his new game on stage during the PlayStation E3 2016 Press Conference on June 13, 2016.

Renowned video game developer Hideo Kojima is currently working on a new game, "Death Stranding." Despite releasing his game on the PS4, he did share his thoughts regarding the upcoming Nintendo Switch console during the recent RTX Sydney event.

The Switch is capable of functioning as a regular home console and can then be used as a mobile handheld device. Previous games developed by Kojima have introduced a similar concept during the era of the PS3 and PS Vita, Kojima explained in an interview with IGN.

Kojima explained that their past games allowed gamers to save their game on the PS3 and then load that same file on the PS Vita. This feature was referred to as "transfarring" and was only available for games that saw a PS3 and PS Vita release such as the "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection."

"I believe Switch is an extension of that idea," Kojima told the publication. "The fact you can play something at home and take it outside, this is the gamer's dream. The Switch is an evolution of that."

He also explained that the technology of the Switch is already being explored in films and television shows. Kojima points out how consumers can purchase a Blu-ray disc and receive a code to get a free digital copy of the movie. This allows them to watch with the physical disc at home and then continue watching anywhere they go, using a phone or tablet.

While the Switch is revolutionary, Kojima further elaborates that it is not yet the end-goal. He explains that the future of gaming involves using cloud technology. This would allow gamers to seamlessly game from one device to the other, similar to how consumers can switch viewing films using a Netflix account.

Kojima is not the only one who thinks the Switch will be a massive success and progenitor for future gaming technologies. Analysts estimate that the Switch will sell over 40 million units in just four years, Game Rant reported.

The Nintendo Switch launches this March 3. The full Nintendo presentation video can be viewed below:
