Chinese action star Jackie Chan got the surprise of his life in January when the founding members of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team had a TV reunion with the “Kung Fu Yoga” star.
He was a guest on “The Negotiator,” a Chinese variety show, when one member of the stunt team spoke on video. He shared about the generosity and kindness of Jackie Chan shown by the action star over 40 years. After the video message, the stunt team members appeared onstage, Shanghaiist reported.
Honorary Oscar
Jackie Chan created the team in 1976. On sight of the team members who have remained loyal and devoted to the actor, the honorary Oscar awardee unabashedly cried and embraced his team. He also shared with them the honorary Oscar he received in November which is a recognition by the Academy Awards of the contribution of stunt men to the American movie industry.
In a message to the group, the actor said, “For forty years we've been through thick and thin, fractured bones, broken limbs.” Jackie Chan continued, “Sent to hospital at 5 or 6 in the morning. No one sees that at the theater. Even as I receive the Academy Honorary Award, this Oscar is shared among us.”
No Body Double
Just recently, Jackie Chan shared that while he was filming “Kung Fu Yoga” in the United Kingdom, he had a secret and emergency surgery in London and he next day resumed shooting the film. One scene in the movie involved the actor diving into an ice cold lake, and he did it with no body double.
After “Kung Fu Yoga,” Jackie Chan would be part of a LEGO Movie spin-off, “The LEGO Ninjago Movie” scheduled to premiere on Sept. 22. According to MovieWeb, there is no trailer yet, but Warner Bros. shared new images showing Jackie Chan as Master Wu, Justin Theroux as Lord Garmadon, Dave Franco as Lloyd and Michael Pena (Kai), Zach Woods (Zane), Fred Armisen (Cole), Kumail Nanjiani (Jay) and Abbi Jacobson (Nya) as the ninjas in Master Wu’s super squad.
