For many employees, when they reach 60 or 65, they retire from work and just enjoy their retirement years at a slower pace of life. However, retirement is one word not on Chinese actor Jackie Chan’s vocabulary.

At age 62, he has no plans of retiring from making movies, even action films that require him to do death-defying stunts, China Daily reports. Jackie Chan just shared over the weekend that while shooting “Kung Fu Yoga” – which opens on Jan. 28 for the Spring Festival – in Iceland, he had to dive in icy water even if the previous day he underwent surgery on his stomach secretly.

Slowing Down?

However, he admits that time flies so fast and he does not know how many more years he has left shooting physically challenging films. Another Chinese actor, Andy Lau, had just expressed that he prefers now making light comedies over action movies because he feels he needed to slow down at age 55. He was proven right because Andy Lau suffered pelvic bone injuries last week when a horse he was riding on while shooting a tea commercial in Singapore threw him on the ground and stepped on his back.

Jackie Chan is no stranger to injuries sustained from fight scenes such as the cracked skull he suffered while shooting in 1986 “Armour of God” after his head hit the ground. Fortunately, despite the icy water dive scene for “Kung Fu Yoga,” Jackie Chan did not hurt himself.

Humorous Reply

If age catches up on the kung fu actor and he needs to slow down, he could always use his wit like what he did when he guested at the “Kapil Sharma Show” a few days ago to promote “Kung Fu Yoga” in India. Besides using humor to reply to a question from show host Kapil Sharma, Jackie Chan also rode a bike with Sonu Sood, shared light moments with a dog and took selfies with Raveena Tandon.
