Supergirl is one of the heroes in the fighting game 'Injustice 2.'

The latest details for "Injustice 2" will feature a storyline centered on Supergirl and the next DC character reveal delayed.

It seems that the storyline for "Injustice 2" has been teased during the online beta of the game and it hints that one particular DC heroine will play a huge role in the conflict. This character happens to be Supergirl, who has arrived from planet earth to look for her cousin Kal-El also known as Superman.

However, Supergirl did not expect that his cousin will turn out to be a fallen hero turned tyrant for ruling Earth under his One Earth Regime and imprisoned for his crimes after his war with Batman during the first "Injustice" game.

Supergirl seems to be the main focus of "Injustice 2" despite being one of the first characters revealed when the game was announced, she has been in almost every piece of promotional material and her dialogue, while fighting teases her role in the story.

Base on her dialogue, players can surmise that Supergirl will come to this Earth and find her cousin Superman in jail. Perhaps she is the one who breaks him out of his cell.

Supergirl’s dialogue with Batman suggests they are not on the same side, and Batman is trying to tell her that Superman does not have noble intentions while ruling. Supergirl’s dialogue with Batman also hints he is training her to fight on his side.

There is also specific dialogue between Supergirl and Superman that suggests she and her cousin are not on the same side and that Supergirl is trying to stop him.

It would seem that Supergirl first aligns herself with Superman before being convinced by Batman to defect to his side, after possibly seeing some of the heinous things Kal-El does, IDigital Times reported.

In other news, NetherRealm Studios tweeted an announcement that the next playable DC character which was scheduled on Feb. 7 will be delayed and instead will launch on Feb. 13.

While the studio did not tell gaming fans the reason for the delay, gamers were expecting as to who the new DC hero or villain it could be, not to mention new beta code invites for "Injustice 2".

The previous beta codes featured Blue Beetle in the roster and this will be the third round of access codes sent out to fans of the fighting game franchise, but as producer Ed Boon has said previously, not everyone will be able to get in and try "Injustice 2" out before its release date later this year.

Black Canary is the latest DC character inducted to the roster along with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Robin, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus.

The possible next DC character to be added in "Injustice 2" could be Captain Cold, John Constantine, The Atom, Firestorm or even Ra's al Ghul just to name a few.

NetherRealm Studios will continue to give out more game details for "Injustice 2" possibly in the EVO 2017 and in the Community Effort Orlando or CEO 2017 event.

"Injustice 2" will launch on May 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
