MWC 2017: Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 leaked specs hint S8 as better Android smartphone?

With preparations for the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 ongoing in Spain, many tech lovers have been eagerly awaiting the unveiling of new Android smartphone model and other mobile gadgets. Given the various reports that leaked the specifications of the LG G6 and the Samsung Galaxy S8, here is a quick comparison of the two units' features.

LG is expected to make a big reveal of its latest Android smartphone specifically the G6 at the upcoming MWC 2017 event. Several reports indicated that the LG G6 will come with a sleeker design than the G5 and a bigger screen although marginally smaller than the Samsung Galaxy S8.

With a Quad HD LCD display that is said to be 5.7 inches in size, the LG G6 is rumored to have a 6GB RAM, a 64GB expandable memory with support for an external MicroSD card, as well as a fingerprint scanner located at the back. The said Android smartphone will also reportedly come with a 12MP front camera and Dual 16MP rear cameras.

Meanwhile, the leaked specifications of the new Samsung Galaxy S8, posted on TechoBuffalo, teased of nearly similar features as the LG G6. Aside from the same fingerprint scanner at the back including a 64GB expandable memory and MicroSD slot, the S8 boasts of a slightly larger Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display sized at 5.8 inches.

The upcoming flagship Android smartphone from the South Korean tech firm will also have a 4GB RAM, an Iris scanner, a 12MP Dual Pixel main camera and a front-facing camera at 8MP. It will even come equipped with Samsung Pay and Samsung Knox.

What sets the Galaxy S8 apart from the LG G6 would be its processor. With the G6 rumored to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821, the S8 will be more powerful given its Snapdragon 835 chip.

In other news, details about the two Android smartphones' release dates were recently revealed. After the expected unveiling of the LG G6 at the MWC 2017, the said unit will be available for sale beginning March 10, according to Korean news outlet ETNews.

The said release date will be earlier than Samsung's schedule for the S8. With plans to unveil the new smartphone line on March 29 at a New York event, the Galaxy S8 will be launched globally on April 21.
