"Rap God" rapper Eminem and Madonna have at least three things in common. They both use a mononym as a screen name, they are both from Detroit, Michigan, and they both have adopted children.
It is then interesting to have a collaboration song recorded by Eminem and Madonna. To make the song even more meaningful, it should be a tribute to their hometown.
Recently, Eminem has been under the radar. This could be an indication that the Detroit rapper is taking his ninth album seriously although he has yet to confirm its release date.
On the other hand, Madonna made headlines in February because of her adopted twin girls from Malawi, who are four years old. The singer was given the approval to adopt the children only after she was asked uncomfortable questions by a judge in the southern African country.
"The petitioner is a professional performer and I guarded myself against the danger of her merely reciting a well-rehearsed speech by asking her some rather uncomfortable questions to which she gave very candid answers," Judge Fiona Mwale said in her ruling obtained by USA Today. The judge said she was satisfied that Madonna "is motivated by her desire to offer a home, love, protection and guidance."
Madonna already has two other adopted children from Malawi. On Jan. 25, she filed for the adoption of two other children in a high court in Malawi's capital Lilongwe.
Eminem also has two adopted daughters. He has custody of Whitney Mathers, the daughter of his former wife Kim Mathers, and Alaina Mathers, the daughter of Kim's late twin sister Dawn Scott.
In January 2016, Scott was found dead in a mobile home in Warren, Detroit Free Press reported. Authorities claimed it was because of heroin overdose.
