"Tron: Legacy" was first released in 2010 wherein the movie grossed an estimate of $397 million. Back then, there were already plans for the production of a sequel. However, it wasn't fully realized until now.
According to Digital Spy, there are still no announcements whether Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner will be featured in the upcoming film. Bridges and Boxleitner both starred in 2010's "Tron: Legacy."
Furthermore, stars Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde who starred in the sequel is said to return to the grid. In the second installment, the movie has reached $400 million in the world wide box office, which prompts the production team to consider having a third sequel of the film.
Moreover, if ever the project for a "Tron 3" movie will push through, there is a buzz that Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto will be leading the film.
Should the studio will get pass the pre-production stage, Leto will be introduced as a new character in the grid that comes by the name of Ares. The character was not introduced in the previous film, but it seemed that in the original script, Ares was rather amongst the key player in the movie.
Furthermore, Jared Leto won't be the only one being tapped by the studio to lead "Tron 3." Emma Ludbrook has also been asked to be involved in some producing capacity, Daily Mail reported.
It is said that "Tron 3" is not intended to be a sequel of the previous drafted "Tron" scripts, but it is rather a modified version of the "Tron: Legacy" and its sequel.
According to The Independent, "Tron 3" will still have that foundation of the elements of a "Tron" movie, but the direction of the movie will all depend upon who the screenwriter or director will be.
Presently, Leto is prepping up for a tour throughout U.S. with his band Thirty Seconds to Mars from May to September. Furthermore, the actor is busy campaigning the sensual Gucci Guilty Fragrance, which will introduce a new scent in April. Gucci Guilty Absolute is a new fragrance that will be imprinted by Leto's intensity and sex appeal.
