Bangladeshi blogger hacked to death by extremist

Bangladeshi blogger, Rajib Haider, was killed in the capital of Dhaka by a group of Bangladeshi activists on Monday. The brutal attack was another major reaction towards the country's independent writers.

Two arrests have been made in hopes of finding the murderers. The arrests were made on the killing site, which was located near to the blogger house. Officials told The Guardian News that the suspects were arrested immediately after the attack while they were trying to escape.

Local police chief Wahidul Islam told Dawn News, "He was brutally hacked to death this morning with big knives just 500 yards from his home at Dhaka's Begunbari area.''

The murder took place just weeks after the killing of an American atheist blogger Avijit Roy who was also hacked to death in the same way. Police have arrested several suspects for this killing which took place in February.

The lack of knowledge about differences in religion has already claimed thousands of lives. These blogger were open viewers who just had different opinions but sadly their views were not tolerated by a small part of their community.
The authorities have not yet confirmed whether Haider was an atheist blogger or not, although other writers have claimed that he used to write against religious fundamentalism.

Since 2004, four writers have been hacked to death in the Muslim-majority country. These killings have caused a huge social media hype. People in Bangladesh and abroad have raised protests in hope for finding justice for the attacks. Bloggers have been targeted worldwide, including in the Western and Middle Eastern states in the name of religion.
