Jackie Chan will star in "Kung Fu Yoga" with Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Kung-fu star Jackie Chan announced his plans to go to India late this year for the shooting of the India-China co-production action-comedy movie "Kung-Fu Yoga."

The collaborative production was initially announced last year as a tie-up between Viacom18 Motion Pictures India and China's Taihe Entertainment Corp. and Shinework Media. The project aims to bring back the partnership of Chan with director Stanley Tong. Some of their most memorable projects are "Rumble in the Bronx," "The Myth" and the highly popular "Police Story."

Chan revealed in an interview with the Indian newspaper The Hindustan Times that he is looking to start a new picture entitled "Kung-Fu Yoga."

He adds: "I will be returning to film it in India. Hopefully, we will start filming in autumn."

Chan's new project is hailed as the first production to come out of the India-China co-production treaty. Chan admits he has been offered Bollywood movies. Directors had been looking to hire him to make a movie as well as help them make a movie in China. Chan reveals that the projects fell through because of the scripts. He had been hopeful that someday he would be able to make one Bollywood movie.

The treaty was signed in Sept. 2014, aiming to bridge the cultural gap and establish aesthetic harmony between the two countries.

This is not the first time that Chan has worked with an Indian production. The iconic Hong Kong kung-fu star has actually appeared in a 2005 film called "The Myth" with Bollywood actress Malika Sherawat.

Also in 2013, Chan visited New Delhi to launch a Chinese film festival in the Indian capital. Incidentally, Chan's "Chinese Zodiac" opened the film festival.

Chan's latest movie co-starring major Hollywood actors Adrien Brody and John Cusack entitled "Dragon Blade" was recently released across India.
