According to "Dragon Blade" star Jackie Chan, Jaycee's jail time has done wonders to his son, citing numerous times where he helps to do the chores inside the house. He says, his son is more focused to the point that the older Chan thinks it might do him good to be in jail every six months.
Oriental Daily News was able to interview the older Chan and mentioned how the two merely clash at every point of their conversation before the younger Chan was jailed. Now, he is calmer and more attentive whenever they talk. The older Chan noticed the younger Chan's transformation that he told him; why not go back to jail at least once a year? To which the younger Chan replied, "you can't go there if you haven't done anything wrong."
The older Chan also said that he hasn't quite scolded his son for his jail stint because he has seen how remorseful his son has been. The younger Chan has been writing songs and expressed his interest in writing scripts. As soon as the younger Chan came home after his release from jail, the older Chan gave him a big hug while his wife looks on. The family then spent the evening talking over dinner until the early morning. According to Channel News Asia, the older Chan has already retracted his thoughts of not working with his son ever, instead, he expressed his support for him.
The older Chan was quoted saying, "Jaycee is all grown up and I am relieved. I hope to train him to become a director or to work behind the scenes. I no longer yearn for anything. My child is well, my wife is happy and life is smooth."
In August, the younger Chan, along with Taiwanese movie star Ko Kai, were arrested for providing a venue for drug users and lately found out that he also tested positive for prohibited drugs. The younger Chan since then admitted to it and vowed to be a renewed man after his release. In 2009, the older Chan was named anti-drug ambassador, an ironic twist of fate that made the world renowned actor despise his son's act.
