Microsoft Officially Lists Visual Studio 2015 Products; Only Three Versions Coming This Year

Microsoft is gearing up to launch Windows 10 operating system on computers, smartphones and tablets. In order to boost app development, the company has revealed their Visual Studio 2015 product line-up a bit earlier than expected.

In their official blog, the company revealed the different editions of Visual Studio that are scheduled to get launched this summer. 

The exciting community edition from 2013 is being revamped into Visual Studio Community 2015 while the professional edition will now be Visual Studio Professional 2015 integrated with MSDN. The major difference is that both premium and ultimate products are being merged into one single bundle. Users who are looking for a comprehensive package should opt for the Visual Studio Enterprise 2015 with MSDN. The developers have confirmed that there will be three different products to choose from this year, according to eWeek

Zdnet confirms that Microsoft will be selling the Enterprise edition for a price that is at least 55 percent lower than the Ultimate edition. Similarly, companies which plan to purchase the edition in bulk quantities can avail up to 43 percent lesser price tag than individual copies.

The Professional edition will cost $1,200 for users who sign up for a one year subscription, while the renewal will cost them $800 every year. The Enterprise edition is priced at $6,000 for first time buyers while renewal cost is $2,570 per user. 

The latest edition, Visual Studio 2015 has been designed in a way that it will allow developers to easily create apps for the Windows 10 platform. The package will include a compiler system for .Net, has Rosyln, ASP.Net as well as better support for Apache Cordova tools.
