New Dangerous Greenhouse Gases Found From Hospital Operation Theatres

Researchers reveal that more dangerous greenhouse gases have been identified, which are emitted from the hospital surgery rooms like from anesthesia and other drugs are causing a very adverse effect on the environment.

The surgical gases like isoflurane, desflurane and sevoflurane are proving to be very harmful for the Earth and their levels are increasing at an alarming rate in the atmosphere.

Unlike the prominent greenhouse gases, the presence of the aforementioned gases are low in comparison, but it started to rise primarily because of the amount of anesthesia, which is used on a daily basis, used in hospitals. The scientists fear that the addition of more greenhouse gases will certainly worsen the already depleting ozone layer more, which will cause an adverse effect on both animals and plants, Tech Investor News reported. Another study had pointed out that global warming amplifies the emission of greenhouse gases, which leads to even more environmental issues.

Nitrous oxide, which is a major component of these newly found greenhouse gases, is already present in the atmosphere in a large amount, according to Tech Times. There are so many source which produce this gas that confining it as a greenhouse gas coming from surgical procedures seems illogical, the report added.

Anesthetic gases that are escaping to the environment is not uncommon, according to the scientists at Yale University. However, the fact that its presence has started to rise is alarming. The scientists are preparing a report in which they will come up with ways on how to make the hospitals 100 percent environment-friendly and reduce the emission of these gases.
