Smartphones are becoming smarter every day with voice control and wearable accessories but battery life has been a consistent issue which is what Google aims to solve.

The same team of people who are working on multiple Google projects like self-driven cars, project Loon to bring internet to inaccessible areas are also trying to find a way where they could significantly boost battery technology.

Devices of contemporary times are being upgraded every month with increased processing power, better RAM and bigger displays. The resolution of the displays are being bumped to 2K on small phones and tablets which can be a successful venture only if users could depend on it to work all day without failing at crucial moments.

Earlier, it was confirmed that IBM has already been working on finding an alternative source to lithium ion batteries. But, before they could come up with a solution, Google has started doing some tests of their own. They are planning to find a way to increase life on both lithium ion and slim solid state battery, Android And Me confirmed.

Named as the Google X team, it is being led by Dr. Ramesh Bhardwaj. The team has a lot of research projects going at the moment and the company did not share more details about their progress rate. Based on the resources that the company has granted for this team, they are sure to come up successful, reported Android Central.

Battery life is a consistent issue that smartphone developers have failed to recognize till now. If big players like Apple, Samsung could work together with Google to come up with solutions, it will benefit the entire world's population.
